This is an Essential Show II
Villa Waldberta, München (Germany)
September 2021

This is an Essential Show is a multi-layered exhibition of performance, installation, sculpture, sound, video, photography, and texts in engaging with the subject of inequality, mobility, and the politicization of health care in the context of the coronavirus pandemic.

A key word in the title of the exhibition “essential,” which has been central to the discourses on mobility and accessibility, became a way to continue my ongoing engagement with the subjects of migration and mobility, in the contexts of people, politics and power.

The ideas for this project was fleshed out over a year of research as the pandemic was unraveling. The first exhibition was presented as a solo exhibition at La_cápsula, Zürich in July 2021. This contained works made during an international residency with Gastatelier Gleis70, Zürich in the winter of 2020, and a summer residency with Freiraum Zürich preparing for the exhibition. The second phase of the project was developed during an international residency at Villa Waldberta, München with a solo exhibition hosted at the Villa Waldberta Palmenhaus in Feldafing.
